Good horror on TV is hard to find. Either it’s watered down, or we get more suspense than anything. And even less apparent than horror on TV, is appreciation for horror on TV! Well, Spike TV says “Bah!” to that with their annual Scream Awards. Scream 2008 has just sent us their list of talent for the event, and it’s a doozy!

Spike says they’ll have “appearances and performances by Kristen Bell, Julie Benz, Darren Lynn Bousman, Thomas Dekker, Guillermo Del Toro, Summer Glau, Samuel L. Jackson, Doug Jones, Kerli, Stan Lee, The Osbournes, Jared Padelecki, Ron Perlman, Amanda Righetti, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Seann William Scott, Kevin Smith, Liv Tyler, Gerard Way, Rob Zombie and many more to be announced shortly.”

A recent poll by TV Guide confirmed what many of our readers have been telling us for years: Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are two of TV’s sexiest stars.

The Supernatural superstars are Nos. 1 and 2 respectively on that site’s list of the sexiest stars in Sci-Fi. CW, not surprisingly came out very well on that list as just behind our favorite duo are Smallville’s Tom Welling and Allison Mack. The list wasn’t all recent favorites as cerebral sex symbols David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson of the X-Files also made the cut.

But back to Jensen and Jared. TV Guide posted some of the most gushing comments as part of their photo gallery and Supernatural fans did not hold back the praise.

Lacy215 declares Jensen not just the sexiest sci-fi star, but the sexiest man on the planet. Sheesh, no pressure to live up to there. JennyluvsJared not just because of his good looks, but his sense of humor. I hear women really do like that – course it doesn’t hurt to look like Jared.

As I mentioned, this pretty much tracks with what our readers have been telling us about Supernatural’s dynamic duo. My only remaining question is: How many of our readers participated in stuffing TV Guide’s online ballot box?

In other news, remember Jared Padalecki’s Christmas movie? Lionsgate has quietly removed it from its big-screen offerings and changed it to a direct-to-video title. Ouch.

We figured something was wrong with the picture when it wasn’t actually released last Christmas. We can’t imagine there was any problem with the acting — Jared starred alongside movie luminaries Peter O’Toole and Marcia Gay Harden — so we’re guessing something went terribly awry with the story, which is inspired by the life of Thomas Kinkade (the “Painter of Light”) or the production, which Kinkade was heavily involved in. And while we weren’t exactly salivating for the Thomas Kinkade Story, we are bummed for Jared — this sounded like his chance for mainstream movie success. Maybe next time, Jared!

Jason Voorhees can run. That was one of the big revelations from the final day of the San Diego Comic-Con, as Supernatural star Jared Padalecki appeared alongside cast members and producers from the new Friday the 13th reboot. A teaser trailer was unveiled during the panel, which highlighted the producers’ attempts to ground the horror flick in reality. Gone is the slow, zombie-like killer from the older films, and in his place is a hulking maniac who isn’t afraid to sprint after a frightened teenager. It’s a big change for the series, but the Comic-Con audience responded enthusiastically to the footage.

After the trailer was shown, an audience member asked the question that many Supernatural fans are probably wondering: Will Jared Padalecki’s character survive his face-off with Jason?
