JARED PADALECKI, who stars with Jensen Ackles in TV ghost-busting show Supernatural, has revealed he had to turn down the lead role in this summer’s action-adventure movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

He admitted his commitment to the TV role of Sam Winchester had cost him the chance to play soldier Conrad Hauser, codenamed Duke.

That role is now played by Channing Tatum, with the movie due out in August.

Jared, 26, said: “It is weird because on the one hand I couldn’t do [G.I. Joe] because I was doing Supernatural, but if I hadn’t been doing Supernatural who knows if I would have gotten offered G.I. Joe.

“It would have been great but then what, you still have to keep working. I’ll get it when it’s time. I think so many people set goals and then get frustrated when something doesn’t happen, but I feel like this is a marathon, not a sprint.”

Jared also quashed internet rumours that saw him linked with the fourth Resident Evil film: “I don’t know where that came from. I’ve never seen a script, never had a conversation”, he said.

Speaking to Coventry Telegraph sister title the Sunday Mercury at the Asylum 3 convention in Birmingham, co-star Jensen confirmed what The Geek Files reported earlier from the event: That he and Jared have signed for six years (despite Supernatural creator Eric Kripke only having a five-year contract), and that they WILL come back for a sixth season – provided, of course, that the network renews the show and it still has something good to offer.

Jensen, 31, said: “I don’t feel necessarily definitive about season five being the final season, I just know that is where Eric has led the series from the very beginning.

“He could very well hand it over to one of the other writers and stay on as consultant producer, but how the story would go from there I don’t know.

“I think the studio and network are preparing themselves for this to be the final year but, to be honest, I thought this past season was going to be the final year and it was the best season we have had.

“If that bleeds into season five it would be stupid to get rid of it because it is one of the biggest shows.

“I could do another. It’s a good job.”

Jared added: “The adage is that season six means residuals, syndication. Yay, life is good. Buy a new car.

“But it is not about that. I really want to focus on creating and building a character. If there is still something for me as an actor to bring to Sam then absolutely I’d do season six, otherwise I think Sam and Dean should go out fighting.” [SOURCE]

Jared Padalecki has confronted plenty of strange creatures playing Sam Winchester on the hit CW series Supernatural, but now he’s facing up to one on the big screen.

In the remake of the horror classic Friday the 13th, Padalecki goes head to head with one of Hollywood’s most recognizable villains, Jason Voorhees. And talking to him about his on-screen encounters with evil-doers, the lead role in the updated horror flick was a perfect fit.

Q: What’s the secret to acting in a horror film?

A: As a guy, you kind of learn early not to scream in a high-pitched voice because it doesn’t look too good. You have to scream tough. Then you get ready for some long, crazy nights getting chased and running and hooting and hollering. At least you don’t have to learn a lot of lines.

Q: I’m guessing you saw the original Friday the 13th.

A: Nearly every kid I grew up with did. I remember the first time was with my friend Eric. We watched both Friday the 13th and The Exorcist the same night and we were trying to act cool. We were like, ‘Oh, that’s not that scary. Let’s go walk in the woods.’ ‘All right, I will if you will.’ ‘But I’m kind of tired.’ ‘Yeah, I’m kind of tired, too.’

Q: What does scare you?

A: Not noises in the night because I usually think there’s an explanation like, ‘Oh, the house is shifting.’ But I think a wild animal like a bear would scare me. What’s funny is it almost feels like Derek Mears as Jason is a bear. He can swim. He can climb trees. He’s faster than you. There’s no escaping him.

Q: Do you ever feel a little silly as an actor doing those scenes where everybody but you knows you shouldn’t be there because Jason is right around the corner?

A: Of course. I’m like, ‘This is the part where the audience is going to go, ‘You’re an idiot. You’re stupid. Don’t go in there.’ But I’m not paid to think. I’m paid to say the lines that are on the page and obey the director. So I just kind of go, ‘Whatever,’ and try and make it real in the midst of people being gagged, beaten, stabbed and having their heads chopped off.

Q: You’ve seen plenty of blood and gore on Supernatural, too. Does it ever get to you?

A: Not after you’ve seen demons bite people’s heads off. We just shot some stuff recently where my shirt is completely soaked in another person’s blood and I sort of forgot how weird it looks. I have to remember I can’t give anyone a hug because I’ve got fake blood all over me. It is interesting when people come in to lunch and they have slit throats or a huge gash on their heads. You’re kind of going, ‘You know what? I’m not that hungry.’ It’s sort of like the horror diet plan.

Tall (over 6 feet) super cute actor Jared Padalecki has no doubt come to your attention playing Sam on the spooky TV series “Supernatural” for the last four seasons. His buddy/bro on the show Jensen Ackles just starred in the “re-imagining” of My Bloody Valentine. Not to be one-upped, here comes Jared riding a motorcycle up to the dreaded Crystal Lake in the re-make of the first film in one of the classic horror franchises Friday the 13th!

Sitting down with us in Beverly Hills, Jared was stoked about his film and clued us in on the funny side of shooting a horror film. He let us know that he’s buds with Derek Mears who plays the frightening, hockey-mask-wearing Jason Voorhees and that shooting in his native Texas was a great break from his Vancouver “Supernatural” set. Get the insider on and off-set scoop from this hot hunk……

TeenHollywood: How weird is it that your ‘Supernatural’ co-star Jensen Ackles had a horror movie come out right before yours?

Jared: I know, yeah. When we found out that we were coming out on February 13th and his movie is, obviously, called My Bloody Valentine, we were like ‘oh, man, I hope they don’t come up against each other’ because we’re buddies and it’s not really going to effect anything but I don’t really want the stigma. But, luckily, his already came out and did tremendously. Now, it’s my turn.
